HCSO Responds to Last Night's Officer Involved Shooting
Hamilton County, TN – In regards to last night's officer involved shooting involving an off duty HCSO Corrections Deputy, Sheriff Jim Hammond is offering the statement below:
"The Hamilton County Sheriff's Office would like to offer its condolences to the family of Corrections Deputy Daniel Hendrix and our prayers are with those involved in this unfortunate incident.
At this time, District Attorney Neal Pinkston has requested the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI) to investigate the incident so the HCSO and the CPD may remain neutral."
Additional Information
Sheriff Hammond was notified, along with other members of the HCSO Command Staff shortly after the event took place and immediately met with CPD officials where he was briefed on the available details at that time.
The immediate family of our Corrections Deputy has requested his name be withheld at this time until they can make all the necessary family notifications.
The Corrections Deputy involved in this incident has been with the HCSO since July of 2013.
As this is an ongoing investigation, any questions regarding this incident should be directed to the TBI.
The HCSO will not have any further comment regarding this incident.
