HCSO Hosts First Bi-Annual Shred-It Campaign of 2017
Hamilton County, TN – On Saturday, April 1, 2017, the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office in conjunction with our partners, WDEF News Channel 12 and the Shred-It Company, hosted our first bi-annual Shred-It Campaign of 2017 at the West Annex.
This year's spring event was very well attended and over 10,200 pounds of paper was collected and shredded. This free service to the community allows our residents the opportunity to safely and securely dispose of their sensitive documents without having to throw them away and risk having their identity stolen.
Those in attendance were also able to dispose of their unnecessary, expired medications at our Drug-Take Back box. During Saturday’s event, over 65 pounds of medication was safely collected and removed from our streets and from the homes of the elderly. This helps to reduce prescription drug theft and abuse.
Overall, this weekend’s event was very well attended and proved yet again to be one of the HCSO’s most successful bi-annual events. The next HCSO Shred-It Campaign will be hosted in October of 2017.
Once again, the HCSO would like to say thank you to both of our partners, WDEF News Channel 12 and the Shred-It Company (Stericycle). We would also like to thank the HCSO Reserve Deputies who took time out of their weekend to participate.
